Should We Care for the Children of America: The Debate Over SCHIPS

The most important political issue in American healthcare for July and August has thus far been the battle between Republicans and Democrats over the issue of SCHIPs. The States Child Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) has been an absolute non-issue among the American press, politicians, and the American public in general. The two main groups for which it has been a very active issue are the healthcare professionals of our country, especially those caring for the children, and the working poor who are trying to raise healthy children. So, why is it suddenly a matter of great debate in our congress and a major topic of debate in the media. Therefore, let us explore these issues together. (more…)
