In the late eighties, anthrax, plaque, and smallpox were part of the course of study in medical school almost purely for historical interest. None of us were ever expected to actually diagnose or treat these arcane diseases which modern Public Health practices had virtually or in the case of smallpox actually eradicated. That of course was before the age of bioterrorism, which is the intentional use of biologic agents such as bacteria, viruses or toxins to cause death or disease to expressly elicit a terror response. Medical students and physicians alike are anxiously studying these horrible diseases for one simple purpose, to help America win her war on terrorism. Every physician and each healthcare professional has now the added duty of standing watch on this most vital war front as true citizen soldiers.

Why Me, Lord?: Dealing with Tragedy in Our Lives
How many times have we all asked “Why me, Lord?” when trials hit our lives? We all have at some time in our lives and some of us maybe every time something goes wrong. Does this question not imply our obvious feelings that these trials and tribulations are all caused by God? Do we really believe that our suffering is always God inspired -to either discipline us or maybe just “toughen us up a bit?” I’m not so sure about this “Why Me” theology.
