The Lord our God has many names and many different characteristics. He has been known as Jehovah————our creator God, Jehovah———our protector God, Jehovah———our sustainer God, and very importantly Jehovah Rapha –our Healer God. Each distinct characteristic of God says so much about His love and protective nature over His children. The name Jehovah Rapha reveals how God cares for us through the aspect of healing. We know of many instances of miraculous healing in scripture, Old and New testaments. Each episode of healing occurred for a purpose and with a plan.

Imagine being on vacation with those you love at a gorgeous seaside resort and having the time of your life. The air is clear, the sky is blue, and the sounds of laughter and joy surround you as you enjoy a part of God’s creation. You may say in your heart, ”It doesn’t get any better than this”, and you would probably be right. Now, imagine your world suddenly and without warning comes literally crashing down all around you. You watch helplessly as those you cherish are swept from your life, and now your world is in chaos. The air is foul, the sky is obscured by smoke and fire, and the only sounds you hear are of utter madness and destruction. This should give you a taste of the agony caused by the tsunami effect, and thank God that you are only imagining this scene rather than actually suffering through it. The consequences of the December 26, 2005 Indian Ocean tsunami are literally exploding upon millions in South East Asia as they struggle to survive the seventh worst natural disaster in history.
