When We Look Into the Face of Evil: A Physician’s Perspective of the Virginia Tech Tragedy

cho2.jpgOnce again our country has been placed into a state of shock and grief. However, the murders in Blacksburg, Va. qualify as the single worst mass murder by a single individual in American history. Not a very pleasant statistic, is it? Much has been said and shown by the traditional media outlets with much of the commentary trying to place blame and second-guessing the situation. As I have reflected and prayed over this tragedy, I have developed a somewhat different perspective. Also, I have a personal investment into what happened as I spent three years completing my residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia. My wife and I have always held a love for Virginia since that point in our lives. I therefore grieve for the entire Commonwealth of Virginia. (more…)
